The trail helps provide pedestrian and bicycle access to the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, and forms an important link in the Cedar Valley Trails system. Just to the south of the trail, the Greenhill Road Trail continues east and then north towards the Cedar River and Waterloo. Along the trail is the University of Northern Iowa (the path detours from the roadside to run right up alongside the UNI Dome and the McLeod Center, the main athletic venues where the UNI Panthers play). The trail also runs through many quiet neighborhoods, and within short distances of local schools.

No dedicated trail parking is available for this path. Parking may be available on-street, but be sure to follow any posted parking signs.
