Located along the Cedar River near Cedar Falls, Black Hawk Park offers a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities including camping, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. The park’s wooded setting, river access, and open recreation areas make it a popular destination for both day trips and overnight stays.
Visitors can explore trails, launch kayaks or boats, enjoy riverside campsites, and experience the quieter natural landscapes surrounding the Cedar Falls area. The park’s combination of forest, water, and open space provides a relaxed outdoor setting throughout the seasons.
Whether camping for the weekend, spending the day on the river, or enjoying a peaceful hike, Black Hawk Park offers an easy outdoor escape close to Cedar Falls.
There are two campgrounds available for use, the Fogdall Campground & the Cedar Campground. There are 21 full hook-up sites (Fogdall) & 176 electrical services. We do not take reservations for these campgrounds, they are first come, first serve. There are 4 shelters that are available on a first come first serve basis or by reservation up to one week in advance by calling a Park Ranger at 319-493-9367 (Shelters only).
